Harley Aamoth, age 76, of Belview passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Parkview Home in Belview. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview. Visitation will be held on Friday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. AT THE CHURCH. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Harley Aamoth was born on May 23, 1931 in Fargo, ND to Charles and Anne Aamoth. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Church in Faith, MN. He graduated in 1948 from Mahnomen, MN and attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and later a business college in Fargo, ND. On December 29, 1956 he was united in marriage to Joanne Sobolik in Fordville, ND. Harley served in the United States Air Force for 3 years where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. In January of 1956 he started in the business office at Armor Meat Packing in West Fargo. In 1959 they moved to Belview where he worked for his uncle Hilmar Aamoth at the Belview State Bank, which he purchased in 1966 and owned along with the Belview State Agency until his retirement in February of 1997. His hobbies included golf, playing cards, sports, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family including his grandchildren and his wide range of friends. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Belview, served numerous terms on the church council, 21 years on the Belview School Board, was a member of the Belview American Legion, Selective Service Board, Memorial Board of The Redwood Area Hospital, Belview Booster Club, Belview Improvement Corporation, he was part of the original organization of the Parkview Nursing Home and served on that board numerous years, he was a 38 year member and officer of the Redwood County Bankers Association, MN State Board of Independent Bankers for 6 years, and co-owner of Vesta State Bank in the 1980’s.

He is survived by his spouse Joanne of Belview; his children: David (Jan) of Crookston, MN; Cynthia Aamoth of Sun Valley, CA, & Taralee Aamoth of Aurora, CO. His grandchildren: Cassie, Brea, Paige Aamoth; great-granddaughter Mackenzie; sister Nona Isaacson of Henderson, NV, and mother-in-law Belle Sobolik of Grand Forks, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents.
