James Garrison
James A. Garrison age 73 of Redwood Falls passed away on Friday,
December 26, 2008 at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday,
December 31 at the Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00
p.m. Tuesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue
one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment
will be held in Clarksville, Iowa at a later date. Email condolences

James Garrison was born September 6, 1935 on the family farm in
Mitchell County, Iowa to Theodore & Lorraine (Christy) Garrison.
He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1953. On August 16,
1953, Jim was united in marriage to Darlene Waterman at the Little
Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He worked in the Chevrolet plant in
Wisconsin for about a year before moving to Floyd, IA where he worked
for his brother doing produce. The couple next moved to Clarksville,
IA where he continued to work produce for his dad and brother. In
1970, they moved to Humboldt, IA where he began his Saladmaster
Cookware dealership. In 1974 they relocated to Redwood Falls. He
continued to work his business until1985 when he purchased the A
& W restaurant. In 1994 he sold the business and later operated
the Rosewood restaurant until his health forced his retirement.
Jim continued living in Redwood Falls, later entering the Sunwood
Good Samaritan Care Center where he has resided since. Jim was an
active member of the Presbyterian Church where he helped with the
Sweetheart and Turkey dinners, ushering and serving as a Church
Elder. Jim was also a member of the Travelers Club. He enjoyed watching
football and baseball, playing chess and reading especially about
history. He loved being with family and especially enjoyed his children
and grandchildren. Jim enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for the family.
James is survived by his wife Darlene of 55 years; children: James
A. (Debra) Garrison of Heartland, MN, Lorraine (Dalton) Borneman
of Belle Plaine, MN, Douglas Garrison of Cape Coral, FL, and Mark
Garrison of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Gary, Paula, Jessica,
Frank, Jason and Ashley; great grandchildren: Charlie Jo, Kayla
and one expected great granddaughter in February; brother Paul (Judy)
Garrison of Washington and many other relatives and friends. He
is preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Lorraine, step
mother Margaret, brothers: Earl, Bill, Ted, John and Christy and
a sister Ruth.
