Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 9 at the Lower Sioux Community Center.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the community center and will continue until the time of services on Thursday.

Kenneth Gregg, Dakota Name: “WAKINYA TANKA” (Big Thunder), age 57 of the Lower Sioux Community, formerly of Minneapolis, made his journey to the Spirit World Monday, October 6, 2008 at his daughter’s home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 9 at the Lower Sioux Community Center. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the community center and will continue until the time of services on Thursday. Interment is in the St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Cemetery. Kenneth Gregg was born November 2, 1950 in Marshall, MN to Wallace and Lorraine (Leith) Gregg. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1968, and was then drafted into the Army. After Basic Training, he went to Vietnam for 18-20 months and then to Germany. His end of term of service was in Germany, and he returned to Ft. Dix, NJ before returning to Minneapolis. After the service, Kenneth worked for Williams Brother’s Pipeline in Minneapolis and later Rapid City. He worked for the Postal Service in Minneapolis before he became ill, and then moved in with his daughter where he resided off and on for the last three years. Kenneth drove demolition derby cars, was an avid race fan, enjoyed traveling around and going to races. He loved working on cars, playing golf and Bingo, and enjoyed going to Lakota Nation Invitational Basketball Tournament in Rapid City.

Kenneth is survived by his children: Tamica Columbus of the Lower Sioux, Todd Gregg of Pine Ridge, SD; grandchildren: Sabrina LaRose, and Tolin and Thalia Gregg; siblings: Pam, Jim, Denny, Rebecca, Michelle, and Elizabeth; special friends: Dina, Classie, and his friends at Kike’s Auto; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kevin; nephew Eddie; uncles Arlo and Edwin Gregg, Ed Gruhot and John Reinhart; and cousin Ricky Gregg.
