Leona E. Lucio Larson

Leona E. Lucio Larson age 80 of the Lower Sioux Community passed away Sunday, January 18, 2009 after an extended illness at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22 at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church on the Lower Sioux Community with a luncheon to follow at the church hall.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment is in St. Cornelia’s Cemetery. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Leona E. Lucio Larson was born August 19, 1928 in Redwing, Minnesota to Clifford and Esther (Thomas) Lucio. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church on the Lower Sioux Community. She attended school in the Morton Area. Leona was united in marriage to Lyle Virgil Larson on August 23, 1962 in Redwood Falls. Leona enjoyed doing bead work for Bloon Brothers. She worked in the nursing home as a cook. Leona also worked picking potatoes, and later worked at the turkey plant. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, and dancing to Polka music. Leona loved flowers and cats. Leona also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Leona is survived by her two stepsons: Steve & Carson Larson; siblings: Mary Loomis of Morton, Joe (Kim) Lucio of Tokyo, Japan, Ruth Pacheco of Albuquerque, NM, Frank Lucio of Morton, Susan Rinderman of East Moline, IL, Victoria Lucio of Shakopee, Josephine (Gary) Seidl of Bird Island, Albert Lucio of Morton, Diane Lucio of Morton, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lyle; sister Bernice Scheffler; and brothers: John Lucio and Clifford Lucio, Jr.
