Michael Ose Michael Scott Ose age 58 of Echo, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away on Thursday June 4, 2009 due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rock Valle Lutheran Church north of Echo, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with a prayer service held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be held at a later date. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Michael Scott Ose was born May 27, 1951 at the Granite Falls Hospital to Clarence and Adora (Bue) Ose. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Valle Lutheran Church. Mike graduated from Echo High School in 1969, then enlisted in the Marine Corps where he received his honorable discharge. On July 20, 1971, Mike married Janet Salewske at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. To this union, two children were born, Jamin and Jessica. He then began working at the Redwood Falls Police Department, where he worked for 28 years until his retirement in December 2000. August 20, 1983, Mike was united in marriage to Susan Larson at Rock Valle Church. To this union, Mike was blessed with his son Caleb and two step children Jeremy and Kristy. Mike had a love for history which kept him busy. He loved to daydream about everything from the Civil War, WWI & WWII, to a cowboy shooter known as the “Senator”. Preserving history was also important to him. His latest mission was the Wood Lake Battlefield Association. He also belonged to the American Legion, the First Minnesota Civil War re-enactment group, and S.A.S.S. (single action sharp shooters) and loved to Rendezvous. Mike always enjoyed visiting, which meant a pot of coffee or two. Mike enjoyed stopping at garage and yard sales because there was always “a good deal to be found!” He was disappointed if they didn’t have time to stop. Mike had his hands full with his pets: one horse, two mules, and two dogs. He also liked to deer hunt, but he really loved deer camp because of the “good food and lots of lies!” Mike was a generous, forgiving and loving man who had a heart of gold, but there was a temper too. The kids will remember the “1, 2, 3” count, but usually he included a 2 ½ and then made them shake hands with each other. Mike’s family was the most important thing to him, he especially loved his children and grandchildren. After all, being a father and papa was “creating history!” Mike is survived by his wife Susie; children: Jamin (Amber) Ose of Spokane, WA, Jessica (Chad) Ness of Redwood Falls, & Caleb Ose (friend Ashley) of Redwood Falls; stepchildren: Jeremy Larson of Redwood Falls & Kristy Larson (fiancé John Saunders) of Granite Falls; grandchildren: Kennady, Zoe, Patience, Dalton & Paxton; mother Adora Ose of Echo; brother Duane (Rena) Ose of Alaska; sisters: Diane (Gordy) Volkmann of Jordan & Kari (Mark) Anderson of Muskatine, IA; brother-in-law Steve (Stephanie) Zimmer of Grand Rapids, MN; sister-in-law Debbie (Scott) Stifter of Delano, MN and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. |
