Verna Ione (Beavers) Steinbach, was born on May 11, 1920 to parents John O. and Alma (Peterson) Anderson in Sioux Agency Twsp, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Rock Valle Lutheran Church. Verna grew up on a farm between Belview and Echo and loved to go out with her Dad when he milked the cows.

Verna was united in marriage to Harold LeRoy Beavers of Granite Falls, MN on October 2, 1938. They lived in Granite Falls until 1948 when they moved to Belview where Harold worked as a mechanic. In 1988 Verna married Francis Steinbach.

Verna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always made family and friends feel welcome; she always had coffee ready and it didn’t take her long to make lunch or serve a meal. On Saturdays she always made cinnamon rolls and had them ready for all who stopped in while their kids were at Saturday school. Her children were always glad if there were any rolls left for them when they returned. Her grandchildren always loved her homemade donuts, as she made them with buttermilk and whipping cream that would melt in your mouth. She fried the donut holes and always had them in the freezer when the children came. The college kids remember she would tell them to go down and get a can of donuts out of the freezer to take back to school with them.

Verna is survived by her four children: Virginia (Kenneth) Agre of Sacred Heart, Marjorie (David) Piehl of Appleton, WI, Janice Omtvedt of Belview, and Roger (Cheryl) Beavers of Belview; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Thelma Lippert of Belview and Lola Holein of Granite Falls. Verna is preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold and son Charles; Francis who died in 2007; son-in-law Rolf E. Omtvedt; grandsons-in-law Roger McGraw and Charles Whitworth; two great grandchildren: Adam Omtvedt and Matthew McGraw; her parents; and many brothers and sisters. Blessed by her memory.
