Inez Wee

Inez Wee age 97 of Balaton passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Balaton Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Ellsborough Lutheran Church in rural Balaton with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Balaton Community Center, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service.

Inez Aneta (Sether) Wee, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, sister and friend to many was born on March 13, 1912 to Ingman and Nettie (Leen) Sether at the farm home of her paternal grandparents in rural Jackson, Minnesota. She attended country school in Jackson County and graduated as the valedictorian of the eighth grade, went on to graduate from high school in town in Jackson and then on to Normal Teacher’s training. She taught country school in the Jackson area for 6 years. She then moved to Minneapolis and attended the Minneapolis School of Business and worked for a couple of places in the Twin Cities.

On October 23, 1938, she was united in marriage to Reuben Leonard Wee (his father served as the pastor of Inez’s home church). They owned and operated the Current Lake Store in rural Balaton from 1939 to 1967. Reuben also served in the Minnesota State Legislature from 1955 to 1965. Inez and Reuben moved to Minneapolis in 1967 where Reuben attended the AFLC Theological Seminary in Medicine Lake for one year and Inez worked as the cook for the seminary. They served churches in Tioga, North Dakota and Granite Falls, MN until Reuben’s death in June, 1974. Inez moved to Balaton in 2000 following the Granite Falls tornado and resided in the Circle Pine Apartments and then moved to Lakeside Assisted Living and into the Colonial Manor in 2006. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and studying scripture. She was a wonderful Christian influence in the lives of many people.

Inez is survived by seven sons: Wayne (Verna), Dale (Jean), Reuben (Judy), Mark (Marcia), Bruce (Yvonne), Myron, Grant (Tami), and daughter, Sharon; as well as 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; sister Grace Hanson and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Reuben, her sister Thelma, her brother Horace and two infant grandchildren.

Inez entered into the glory of her Lord on June 2, 2009 at the Colonial Manor in Balaton, MN at the age of 97 years, 2 months, and 20 days.
