Edna Louise Carlson
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. Thursday at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home and will continue
one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday
at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove.
Edna Louise Carlson age 97 of Walnut Grove passed away on Friday,
June 20, 2008 at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Funeral services
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Walnut Grove. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00 p.m. Thursday
at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior
to services at the church on Friday. Interment is in the Walnut

Edna was born May 14, 1911 at home in Johnsonville Township, Redwood
County, Minnesota to Julius & Marichen (Otto) Arnhold. She was
baptized and confirmed in Johnsonville Lutheran Church. Edna attended
country school district #59. On September 4, 1929, Edna was united
in marriage to Bernard Carlson at the church parsonage in Redwood
Falls. Together the couple lived and farmed near Walnut Grove where
they raised chickens. Edna and Bernard later moved into Walnut Grove,
where she has resided since. Most recently, Edna was a resident
of Country View Apartments. Edna served on the Redwood County Welfare
Board for 8 years. She was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran
Church where she served on the ladies aid, amongst various other
groups. She also belonged to a birthday club. Edna was a very caring
and loving person. She loved to cook and to entertain. She enjoyed
working with her hands doing embroidery. She also enjoyed working
on the farm, flower gardening and playing cards.
Edna Carlson is survived by her sister Olga Arnett of Sioux Falls,
South Dakota, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard on November
25, 1985, and her two sons Donald Eugene & Bernard Bradley Carlson.
