Mary Louise Swenhaugen age 85 of Westbrook, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Sanford Tracy Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday April 25, 2008 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church south of Walnut Grove. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Westbrook Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment is in the church cemetery. Mary Louise Swenhaugen was born April 10, 1923 in Slayton, MN to William & Mary (Stien) Atkins. She was baptized October 25, 1925 in Slayton and was confirmed at the Methodist Church in Holly Township. Mary was united in marriage to Myron Swenhaugen on February 1, 1946 in Walnut Grove. They farmed in Dovray Township until 1948 when they moved to their farm near Westbrook, where they lived the rest of their lives. Mary enjoyed farming with her husband, working with chickens, gardening, cooking and her cats and dogs. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the ladies VFW Auxillary in Westbrook. She had been a resident of Prairie View Nursing Home in Tracy.

Mary Louise Swenhaugen is survived by her son Daryl and daughter in law LaCinda Swenhaugen; three grandchildren: Duane (Janel) Swenhaugen, LuAnn (Chad) Cooley and Paul Swenhaugen (special friend Carol Stern and daughter Briannon); four great grandchildren: Lisa, Lance, Skyler and Ethan; two step great grandchildren: Brennon and Quentin Cooley, brother Harry (Patty) Atkins of Lake Wilson; sister in law Thelma Atkins of Wabasso; brother in law Harley Hegwood of Lancaster, CA and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Myron on February 2, 2004, parents William & Mary, brothers William, John and Edward, sisters Nellie, Christine, Elsye, Jenny, Grace and Annie, infant brother Frank and infant sister Mary.
